Cr Jenny Mulholland, Banyule’s longest serving Councillor has stated her strong support for the Victorian Coalition Government’s East West Link project
Cr Mulholland is Banyule’s only female Councillor and a former Mayor.
“The East-West Link project is critical for the residents of Banyule. Thousands of our residents travel on the Eastern Freeway everyday.”
“The Linking Melbourne Authority has advised Banyule City Council of the flow on effect of the East West Link in reduced traffic, up to 10%, particularly truck traffic, on some of Banyule’s busiest roads like Rosanna Road, Heidelberg Rd, Bell Street, Banksia Street and Greensborough Highway.”
“I commend the Victorian Coalition Government on their courageous move to back East-West Link phases 1 & 2. There are many residents that would be shaking their heads at the Labor Members for Ivanhoe, Eltham and Bundoora for opposing a project that will lead to residents spending less time on the road, and more time with their families.”
“The 8% swing to the Liberal candidate in our Federal seat of Jagajaga is a testament, in part, to the Federal Coalition’s $1.5 Billion dollar commitment to the East-West Link project.”
“We need to make sure all forms of transport are matching Banyule’s population growth, roads are part of that.”
