Proposed IGS Development Plan Resident Interest Group

Council has committed to forming a Resident Interest Group to be included in the processing of the Development Plan application. The group will consist of 10 residents who live within the immediate vicinity of the school, with at least two residents to be from the general geographic area to the west, south and east of the school.

Banyule City Council is now seeking expressions of interest to join the Resident Interest Group. Applications are to be in writing and must be received by COB 13 November 2013.

To be considered for the group, candidates must reside permanently in the immediate locality of the Ivanhoe Grammar School and be available to attend meetings during ordinary business hours*. A total of 10 residents will be selected to form the group with 3 residents from the general geographic area to the west, south and east.

Council will finalise the Resident Interest Group following a selection process by Council Officers.

*Council Officers will endeavour to make meetings at the start or end of the day as much as possible to accommodate work commitments.  It is envisaged that meetings would typically commence during the evenings at around 5.30pm – 6.00pm or early morning if agreed by the interest group.  The final time for meetings will be agreed with the group upon commencement.

Next Steps

Council expects to receive further information from the applicant including a response to issues and concerns raised at the consultation session of 20 August 2013. After this information is received, residents will be notified and given an opportunity to review the information and make further submissions to Council. A further consultation session will be arranged following close of the notification period.

It is envisaged that the Resident Interest Group will meet with Council officers and representatives of Ivanhoe Grammar School to discuss matters in more detail.

Ivanhoe Grammar Resident Interest Group (IGRIG) – Terms of Reference 2013

1.    Statement of purpose

1.1.  The Resident Interest Group is to provide input into the review of the proposed Development Plan, express local knowledge on relevant issues and feedback on any options presented through the process.

 

2.    Structure

2.1.  The Resident Interest Group is to be made up of ten people, with selection to be a minimum of three persons per general geographic area to the west, south and east of the school (refer to map within related information).

2.2.  The Resident Interest Group will be appointed by Council in response to public invitation for expressions of interest.

2.3.   Nominees should generally be available to meet within business hours.  Council Officers will endeavour to make meetings at the start or end of the day as much as possible to accommodate work commitments of the Resident Interest Group.

2.4.  The term of appointment will be up until a determination is made by Council on the Development Plan.

2.5.  Terms of appointments may be varied by Council resolution.

 

3.    Operation

3.1.  The Minute secretary will be provided by Council.

3.2.  A quorum for IGRIG is to be one person from each geographic area.

3.3.  Meetings will be chaired by a Council Officer.

3.4.  Communication and notification to the group will be primarily by email.

4.1.  Meetings will be determined as required or appropriate by Council Officers with a minimum of seven days notice given unless otherwise agreed by the IGRIG.
